Spelling
Our approach to Spelling is multi-faceted. We firmly believe that good spelling is an essential skill needed for our pupils to communicate their understanding. We provide daily streamed spelling and phonic sessions, in addition to regular objective-specific, whole class spelling lessons. To ensure learning is accessible and sequential, we also provide our learners with personalised weekly spelling lists and targets.
Our aim is to value and promote good spelling whilst providing pupils with the tools and strategies to learn and develop spelling confidence.
We use Spelling Shed to inform our provision and share with our pupils a number of engaging approaches to learning. We understand that pupil's learn best when learning is exciting, practical, engaging and creative.
We want our learners to develop and demonstrate a love of language and a fearless approach to acquiring a rich and varied vocabulary.
As part of our commitment to developing spelling, we host an annual cluster Spelling Bee- run entirely by children, for children.
Further information and signposting related to our Spelling Provision can be found on our Homework Page- where you can watch a recorded sharing our vision for home-school partnership in KS2.
