We use a variety of reading schemes and approaches to support the teaching of reading across the school.
Class novels, closely linked to topic learning, are used to inspire and engage. We ensure pupils are able to access high quality, language rich, texts and are introduced to new and excited authors.
Our classrooms have their own class libraries, and our Key Stage 2 librarians run our whole school library- working with all pupils to inspire a love of reading. The School's Library Service visits termly for pupils to exchange books and also providing themed topic boxes and regular reading challenges.
Guided Reading sessions take place across the school in both 'carousel' and 'whole-class' form. Children in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 are heard one to one as often as possible.
One of the highlights of our annual calendar is our World Book Day Character Parade, which often features local authors and storytellers.
