Herdwick School
We value our partnership with the Herdwick School in Matterdale very highly as it offers our pupils the opportunity to spend time immersed in the beauty of a Lakeland landscape. Farmer James is dedicated to farming in an ecologically friendly manner so we learn lots on our visits about becoming responsible stewards of the natural world. We also learn about caring for animals, the source of our food, rivers, wild flowers and the natural cycle of life and death.
Woodland Spirituality Garden
Our Woodland Spirituality Garden is beginning to take shape, thanks to the work of our friend Vee Reed and her army of volunteers. We were delighted to unearth and include a concrete ladybird and mushroom fountain which were part of the original garden installed by Mr Bedford. The borders are almost complete, the circle-of-trust log seating is installed and the spring bulbs have been planted. We even have a family of hedgehogs in residence!
Once completed this area will offer a quiet reflective space within the school grounds where all members of our school community can go for refuge, reflection and contemplation. It is beautiful area in which to feel immersed in nature and removed form the hustle and bustle of the school day.
