Handwriting

At Langwathby, we use Twinkl Cursive Handwriting Scheme. This Scheme compliments our Phonics Provision and is fully progression-mapped to ensure all learners experience high-quality, sequential instruction. Children are guided through each learning step in Whole Class, Small Group and 1:1 sessions. 

Our sessions support everything from pencil control to increasing fluency, style and speed. We know that how a pupil sits and even where they place the paper on their desk can make a big difference to handwriting quality. That’s’ why correct positioning is something we revisit regularly in our sessions.

Adaptive Practice and Handwriting:

Our Handwriting instruction is tailored for left-handed learners and mindful of the National Handwriting Association and BDA best practice guides. We are able to provide a wide assortment of adaptive practices that enable all learners to access- and excel at- handwriting.
