British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British Values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

We work in partnership with Picture News (https://www.picture-news.co.uk/) to use current news stories as opportunities for our pupils to learn about the world around them and to develop respect for other's beliefs, feelings and faiths. The resources we use provide meaningful links to British Values and help us to support pupils personal development.

2023-2024

During the 2023-2024 academic year we are using Tuesday's worship session to re-visit each of the British Values and to explore the protected characteristics.

You can learn more about the content of each weekly worship by following updates on the school Facebook page and X (formally know as Twitter) feed.
